Donald S. Snider Resident of Harrison Twp. and formerly of St. Clair Shores
Age 84 passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 in Clinton Twp.
Born May 4, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Walter and Beryl Nee Williams Snider
Mr. Snider grew up in St. Clair Shores, was a US Marine Corp. Veteran during WWII.
He attended University of Michigan and graduated in 1946 with an Aeronautical Engineering Degree and was on the football team.
After serving his country he went to work for Chryslers' Space Program in Huntsville, AL designing rockets and launch pads.
Many of the launch pads he designed are on display at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, in Washington D.C. In the early 1960's he started his own business called D.B. Snider Marine and had many marinas along the Clinton River. He was an accomplished Sailor and racedmany of his sailboats in regattas in the Great Lakes and in Florida. He was also an accomplished private pilot.
He is survived by his wife Jenny Nee McLaughlin of 63 years and were married on Dec. 14, 1945 in St. Clair Shores.
His children Gary Snider, The Honorable Candice Miller and Sandra Askew
