Dick Hardt, age 75, a 73-year resident of Berkley, died July 5, 2009 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was born February 16, 1934 in Detroit. Mr. Hardt was a 1952 graduate of Berkley High School and a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from the Royal Oak Post Office in 1992, and was also a letter carrier for the Berkley Post Office. He enjoyed photography, gardening and music. Mr. Hardt is survived by his wife, Carol Hardt, whom he married on June 2, 1956 in Detroit; children, Rick Nancy Hardt of Seffner, FL, Rev. Dr. Jill Gary Zundel of Chesterfield and Barbara Hardt of Berkley; mother, Mae Hardt; sisters, Pat Dick Shepich and Linda Chuck Tucker; grandchildren, Clara Zundel and Hannah Zundel; and his grand-dog, Molly. He was preceded in death by his father, Maynard Hardt. The family will receive friends at Berkley First United Methodist Church Thursday 10 a.m. until the time of memorial service 11 a.m., with the Rev. George Covintree, Jr. officiating.
