Delphine Maria Verbeke, age 86, a 2-year resident of Royal Oak, formerly of Sterling Heights and Eastpointe, died February 3, 2012 at her home. She was born October 7, 1925 in Okegem, Belgium to the late Octave and Maria Sorgeloos. Mrs. Verbeke was the former owner of Verbeke Poultry in Detroit. She was also a fabulous seamstress and a loving mother and grandmother. Beloved wife of the late George. Loving mother of Marianne Fred McKelvy and Julie Tom Supanich. Proud grandmother of Alex Ashley McKelvy and Katie Supanich. Dear sister of the late Frank Sorgeloos. Sister-in-law of Lena Sorgeloos, Eleanor VanSteenkiste and Leona Al DeBacker. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. The visitation will be held Monday 3-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. scripture service at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W 11 Mile Rd. 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Mrs. Verbeke will lie in state Tuesday 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass 10 a.m. at the National Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak. The burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Shrine Catholic Schools, Royal Oak or Chippewa Nature Center, Midland, MI appreciated.
