Funeral services for David A. Erickson, 88, will be at 2:00 pm Thursday, March 1st at First United Methodist Church in Newcastle with Rev. Eric Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery with military graveside rites.
David died Monday, February 26th at Custer Regional Senior Care in Custer, South Dakota.
Mr. Erickson was born September 12, 1918 at Horton, Wyoming the only child of August and Anna Peterson Erickson. He attended school at Green Mountain School. He ranched with his parents until he enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945, stationed in the Pacific. He returned to Newcastle and married Mary L. Henderson on June 12, 1947 in Newcastle, Wyoming. He owned and operated a Conoco station on Main Street. He was also employed in other occupations including construction, mechanic for Johnston Fuel Liners and the sawmill.
He enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing and camping. He was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #2516 of Newcastle, and also a member of First United Methodist Church, Newcastle, Wyoming.
Preceding him in death were his parents, an infant daughter Linda, and one son Larry.
Survivors include his wife Mary of Newcastle, and daughters Lynn and Lou Ann Erickson of Laramie.
