Daniel Patrick Costigan, age 55, a resident of Waterford for the past 25 years, formerly of Royal Oak, died August 20, 2010 at William Beaumont Hospital in Troy. He was born December 8, 1954 in Detroit. Mr. Costigan worked for Detroit Country Day School as the facilities manager for more than 27 years. He was the ski coach at Detroit Country Day for the past 26 years, and awarded the MHSAA "Coach of the Year" in 2006. He was also a Gold Palm Eagle Scout. He truly loved coaching and skiing. He was the beloved husband of Patricia Maxwell, whom he married March 27, 1987 at St. Vincent Catholic Church in Pontiac. Cherished son of Patricia M. and the late Robert V. Sr. Loving brother of Judith A. Douglas Kuhnlein, Robert V. Jr., James B., Paul J. Ann, Patrick G. Lisa Hoelaars, Matthew J. Richard Trenz, Kathleen M. Jeffrey Nixon, and the late Kevin M. and Peter J. Son-in-law of Norma Maxwell and the late Dick Sandy Maxwell. Proud uncle of 14 nieces and nephews and two great nieces. The visitation will be Sunday 5-8:30 p.m. and Monday 3-8:30 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W 11 Mile Rd. 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Mr. Costigan will lie in state Tuesday 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass 10 a.m. at St. Columban Catholic Church in Birmingham, with the Rev. Donald Demmer officiating.
