Concetta "Connie" M. Schamante, age 90, a Royal Oak resident for more than 50 years, died July 18, 2009 at Henry Ford Continuing Care in Roseville. She was born August 3, 1918 in Detroit. Mrs. Schamante worked as a cashier for Kroger Co. until her retirement in 1981. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Royal Oak since 1951, and a member of the Women's Guild. She married Paul J. Schamante on September 19, 1936 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Highland Park. She is survived by her children, Carmella Forgione of Sterling Heights, Prudy Jim Storhok of Shelby Township and Carol Joe Russo of Macomb Township; sister, Anna Forgione of Harrison Township; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. Schamante, he died on November 11, 1998, and siblings, Joe Bucchare, Vince Bucchare, Frank Bucchare, Anthony Bucchare, Russell Bucchare, John Bucchare, and Jeanette Raimondo. Visitation will be Tuesday 2-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Mrs. Schamante will lie in state Wednesday 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until time of mass 10 a.m. St. Mary Catholic Church in Royal Oak, with the Rev. Daniel Murphy officiating.
