Clarence Stiff, 89, a lifelong Royal Oak resident, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, in Troy. He was born Oct. 1, 1916, in Royal Oak. Mr. Stiff was a first sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was acting chief of the Royal Oak Fire Department when he retired after 34 years of employment with the department. He was an avid golfer. After retirement, he purchased a home in West Palm Beach, FL., and spent his summers in Cadillac, Mich. Mr. Stiff built homes in Florida and Royal Oak and led an active and busy life. He was predeceased in 1991 by his wife, Dorothy; and by a son, Michael Stiff. Surviving are children, Paul Stiff of Troy, and Judith Stiff of Jupiter, FL; daughter-in-law, Sharon Stiff of Berkley; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
