Charles Parent

Charles Ray Parent, age 84, a resident of Ortonville, formerly of Royal Oak, died August 30, 2012 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. He was born December 21, 1927 in Royal Oak to the late Dosity and Ida Parent. Mr. Parent was the owner of Parent Heating and Cooling. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He was an avid golfer and made 2 hole-in-ones. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and cooking. He is survived by his children, Jeanne James Kurmas and Susan Harold Hoke; grandchildren, Kristine Marcol, Mitchell Ashley Kusza, Haley Hoke and Natalie Kusza; and great grandson, Leland Cantrel. He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Parent, Jr.; and eight brothers and sisters. The visitation will be Tuesday 10 a.m. until the time of service 12 noon at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blocks E of Woodward, Royal Oak, with the Rev. Paul Chateau officiating. The burial will take place on Tuesday 2 p.m. at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Memorials to the Alzheimer's Association appreciated.
