Charles E. French, age 55, a 35-year resident of Royal Oak, died Sunday, December 7, 2008, in St. Clair Shores. He was born April 29, 1953, in Detroit. Mr. French retired from Ford Motor Co. after 35 years of service. He loved playing the guitar and riding his Harley motorcycle. He traveled to California several times on his Harley. He was a big sports fan and loved people. His family describes him as a loving, kind, gracious person and will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his mother, Marguerite French; sister, Christine Robert Sarason of Winters, CA; and brother, William French of Woodland, CA. He was preceded in death by his father, William French. Visitation will be Wednesday, 5-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. scripture service at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Mr. French will lie in state at 9:30 a.m. until time of mass at 10 a.m. at St. Dennis Catholic Church, Royal Oak, with the Rev. John Christ officiating.
