Carroll Humble

CJ (Jr.) Humble, 56, of Newcastle, Wyoming, passed on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Monument Health in Rapid City, South Dakota.

CJ as born in Deadwood, South Dakota, to Joanne Kuykendall-Humble and Carroll Humble. He lived in Sturgis, South Dakota, Newcastle, Wyoming, Billings, Montana, and back to Newcastle when his mom married Chub Foertsch in 1977. Chub was his hero, showing him how to work at ranching and how to be a strong and hard worker.

He met his love of his life, Jennifer Sullivan, in 2000. They had the best 23 years of their lives. He loved working hard and riding his horses, camping ATVing, and driving through the Black Hills with his dogs, Bobo and Star. His wife, family, pets and friends were very important to him.

Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Sullivan; brother-in-law, Billy Jack Hobbs; sisters, Tina Humble, Alta (Jim) Bainer, Glenda (Clarence) Hedgecoth; brother-in-law, Jerry Smith; nieces, Jessie Bainer, and Julie (John) Schofield; nephew, Danny Benshoof; sister-in-laws, Jamie Dowdy, and Hiedi (Robert) Schallmo; great-nieces and -nephews, Zac, Bailey, Brooklin (Rabbit), and Lukas Benshoof, Jonathan Bainer, Micah Fowler, Jacayla and Jayden Dowdy, Abbie, Alyssa, Bobby, Faith, and Sadie Schallmo, Rashaan Schallmo, and Roman Dowdy.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joanne; Chub Foertsch; mother-in-law, Leona (Smiley) Jackson; brothers, Galen Humble, Bobby, Pat, and Billy Eatherton, and Cody Eatherton; sister, Alma Smith; and grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Family will have a private memorial on a later date.
