Carl Hinz

October 5, 1929 — March 4, 2007

Carl Julius Hinz, 77, of Newcastle, Wyoming, died Sunday March 4th at his home following a 4½ year battle with cancer. Services will be held Thursday, March 8th at 10:30 am at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with Rev. Phil Vlaske and Deacon Ken Pitlick officiating. A Rosary will be recited at Corpus Christi Catholic Church on March 7th at 7:00 pm.

Carl was born October 5, 1929 in Newcastle to Herman and Mabel Colby Hinz. He was raised with his family on a ranch near Newcastle and was educated in Newcastle public schools, graduating in 1947.

On June 4, 1960, Carl married Mabel Linstrom. The couple lived in Newcastle where they raised 3 children. Carl was active in his children?s lives; including serving as Cub Scout Leader and Scout Master. Carl worked at the First State Bank and as an accountant for Plains Pipeline and Dixon Bros trucking. He retired in 1997. After retiring Carl volunteered his time in the community. He was recently recognized as 2006 Person of the Year in Newcastle.

Carl was a lifelong member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and served as financial director of the Church for 27 years. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as Treasurer for the last 33 years. Carl was also a member of the Newcastle Lions Club for 54 years, serving as President in 1968 and Secretary-Treasurer for over 30 years.

Carl enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He took great pride and pleasure in assisting in community and church activities.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel, of Newcastle; two sons Michael Robin and David Michelle of Littleton, Colorado, one daughter, Janet, of Casper, Wyoming; a sister, Frieda Painovich, of Rock Springs, Wyoming; 5 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, John, Fred, and Willis and one sister Berenice Pate.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the Newcastle Lions Club Scholarship Fund or the Corpus Christi Catholic Church Knights of Columbus Scholarship Fund.
