Burt Miner

September 1, 1921 — November 9, 2009

Burt Miner was ushered into his heavenly home, lovingly surrounded by his family, on November 9, 2009 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was born on September 1, 1921 in Detroit to Howard and Edna Roussin Miner. He graduated from Cooley High School and then entered the U.S. Air Force. He honorably served his country flying B-17's, as a 1st Lieutenant, on 30 missions, with the 8th Air Force 305th Bomb group. He spent a multi-faceted career as a salesman with Sharon Steel, an entrepreneur as a restaurant/bar owner, home improvement contractor, and was a pioneer in the computer industry of the late 60's designing programs for many companies over 30 years. He served this community through the Lions Club and served the Lord faithfully witnessing his life through the Cursillo & DeColores Ministries. He touched the lives of youth with Youth Insight Ministries, and incarcerated adults in a prison ministry branch of Cursillo. In his senior years, he held Sunday services in his apartment complex, always touching lives for Christ. He started a pilot's friendship group that grew to be affectionately called "The Flyboys" and were instrumental in growing the passion of those who began Honor Flight Michigan. Burt lived a life as a man of integrity and a man of his word. He was much younger than the candles on his birthday cake, and everyone he encountered would agree he was a vibrant man. He was the beloved husband of Flip Frantangelo, the late Ruby Patience and Marguerite James. Loving father of Rick Wilma, Patricia James Maslowsky, Jan Dan Hefferon, Joan Mark Webb, Scott Allison, Sally Dennis Schneider, Barbara Errol Peschell Frantangelo and Brett Barbara Frantangelo. Proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren, Kevin, Sarah, Meghan, Paul, Adam, Alexander, Eric, Andrew, Emily, Elizabeth, Claire, Melissa, Cameron, Grace, Jamie; two step-grandchildren, Tyler and Sara; and three great-grandchildren, Samuel, Renee and 1-week old Aaron. Dear brother of the late Howard and Louis. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. We love you! The family will receive friends Friday 10 a.m. until the time of the victory service 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 37635 Dequindre Road, Troy.
