Burnell Pond

Burnell Jerome Pond died May 9^th at his home in Newcastle, WY. He was born March 15, 1955, to Charles and Valeria Pond in Sisseton, SD.

He retired as a Staff Sgt in the Marine Corps serving from 1973 to 1993. He was in the 3^rd Force Recon and participated in Desert Storm. After retirement, he worked with adjudicated youth at a bootcamp in Custer, SD. Then, he headed security for incarcerated women in an intensive treatment unit in Lusk, WY. He retired in 2018 from the Sheriff’s Office in Newcastle as a Deputy.

He married Sharon on February 14, 1997, in Custer, SD.

Burnell is survived by his wife, Sharon; children, Karl (Rhonda) Thacker of Gillette, WY, Suzanne (Kyle) Hays of Kehei, HI, Rory Pond of Brookings, SD, Levi Terrrill of CA, Laureen Pond of Milbank, SD, and Dallas (Brandy) Terrill of Casper, WY. Brothers; Charles (Kay) Pond of VA, Matt (Lori) Pond of Wilmot, SD. Sisters; Donna Droptiny of AK, Beth Jones of Sioux Falls, SD, Teresa (Jerry) Breen of Baltic, SD, and Nicole Pond of Lake City, SD.

Burnell is preceded in death by hi s parents and sister Laureen.

Services will be May 15^th at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD at 12:30 p.m.
