Bob Round

Graveside services for Bob J. Round, 71, will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, December 23rd at Greenwood Cemetery in Newcastle with Pastors Charles Dutcher, Bill Haley, and Bishop Carl Cottrell. Military graveside rites will be accorded by V.F.W. Post #2516 of Newcastle. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Friday, December 22nd at Worden Chapel.
Bob died peacefully at his home December 19, 2006 in Newcastle, Wyoming.
He was born to Theodore and Georgia Sanders Round on May 20, 1935 at Marysville, Missouri. The family moved to Wyoming on a small ranch near Pavillion where he grew up and went to school. He loved to play football throughout his high school years. Following graduation from high school he enlisted in the U.S. navy August 14, 1953. He received a good conduct, 1st award and 2nd metal Class?IC ?A? school in Inter Communication, maintenance and repair. He served in the ?E? Division, USS Carter Hall, LSD-3 and was honorably discharged from active duty in 1957.
Following his discharge he was employed by General Motors in California for thirty years as a supervisor before he retired. He then moved to Lander, Wyoming where he was employed as an electrician. He married Flo Wempen in 1985 at Elko, Nevada. They made their home in Newcastle, Wyoming where he was employed by the refinery for eleven years. He was also employed in campgrounds waste water and Security for the mines until 2004.
Bob was a member of the American Legion, a Lifetime Member of the N.R.A. and various charity organizations and loved the Black Hills.
Mr. Round loved his family of seven children, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Surviving him are his wife Flo of Newcastle; four sons, Mitch Round of California, Mark Round of Utah, Gordon and Gayle Wempen, both of Newcastle, two daughters, Starla Starkey and Nadina Dollison both of Newcastle; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one son Michael Theodore Round.
