Funeral services for Upton resident Beverly Gerber, 79, will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, February 21st at St. Anthony?s Catholic Church in Upton with Rev. Phil Wagner as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery at Upton. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 20th at St. Anthony?s at 5:00 pm with a recitation of the Rosary to be at 6:00 pm. The family has asked for memorial contributions to benefit St. Anthony?s Church. Worden Funeral Directors of Newcastle are entrusted with the arrangements.
Mrs. Gerber died Friday, February 16th at Weston Manor in Newcastle, Wyoming.
Bev was born February 7, 1928 at Wallingford, Iowa the daughter of Charles and Katherine Maher Burg. She received her education through 12th grade in Cylinder, Iowa where she excelled at basketball. In 1960 she married Victor Gerber in South Dakota. The couple moved to Wyoming in 1964 where Bev was a homemaker and Vic worked for True Oil Company. Together they owned and operated a motel in Upton for several years.
She enjoyed quilting, bingo, visiting with her friends at the roundtable in Polly?s restaurant. She cooked many holiday meals for her family and was very active in the Catholic Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Ginkens of Marion, IA and Dolores Fonley of Ocala, FL; two sons, Bill Gerber of Upton and Tim Gerber of Moorcroft, WY. Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
