Betty Lou Henderson, 86, passed away January 10, 2021 from cancer at her family home with her daughter Melanie by her side.
Betty was born November 2, 1934 to Louis and Rose Morris in Newcastle, Wyoming. She graduated with the class of 1952. She moved to Washington State and upon her retirement, she moved back to Newcastle in 2001.
As an active representative for classmates, she kept them up to date with upcoming reunions.
Betty was the first to volunteer in the community no matter what organization it was. She was an active member of the First Methodist Church and the Women’s Methodist Group. She was a member of the Twenty First Century, Chapter X PEO and Dirt Daubers. Betty served on numerous boards including the Bread Board and the Weston County Humane Society.
Betty was involved in our community from the time she moved back to Newcastle in 2001 until her passing. She was always ready to give a helping hand or fix food for those in need. Betty spoke to everyone and always had a smile on her face. She loved to work on her needlepoint and spent time reading.
Betty loved being around her family especially for the Elliott family reunions.
We are so thankful to have had her in our lives for the past 20 years. She will be greatly missed by all of her friends, family, and the entire community.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her two daughters Marsha Clairmont, Marisa Detillion and grandson Mason Derrick.
She is survived by her stepsister JoAnn Fassbender of Newcastle, WY, daughter Melanie (Roger) Todd of Sundance, WY, grandchildren Mariah Derrick, Jennifer and Jalene Detillion, and great grandchildren Rya Yee-Kennelly and Kloie Udajer.
In leu of flowers, Betty would like donations made in her name to the Bread Office or the Weston County Humane Society.
