Bernard Makela

Bernard R. Makela, age 89, a resident of Royal Oak since 1967, died November 11, 2009 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was born October 2, 1920 in Laurium, MI. Mr. Makela was a World War II Army Air Force veteran. He retired from Pulte builders and was a member of the carpenters union. He is survived by his children, Lynn Tim Grund of Escanaba, MI, Bruce Marilyn Makela of Roseburg, OR and Linda John Derby Makela of Holt, MI; sister, Mayme Koski of South Lyon, MI; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mr. Makela was preceded in death by his two wives, Ruth Makela in 2006 and Barbara Makela in 1967. A memorial service will be held Saturday 10 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 749 W. 14 Mile Road, Clawson, with Pastor John Burow officiating.
