Anthony Andrew Shucraft

July 9, 1988 — May 28, 2023

Anthony Andrew Shucraft was born July 9, 1988 in Newcastle, Wyoming to Helmut and Patricia Shucraft. 2.5 years later he was joined by his brother and best friend Joseph. Tony left this world after spending 5 months in the Rapid City Hospital where he had surgery on a cyst that was on his brain stem. He fought a tough battle and his life on this earth ended May 28, 2023

As a young child, Tony was always on the go. He never let anything stop him. He enjoyed sports to the fullest. His favorite teams were the Denver Broncos and the Denver Nuggets. His wish was for the Nuggets to win the championship this year. Go Nuggets! He was always watching games with his brother and got to go to some of the Broncos games in Denver.

Tony also enjoyed playing many sports; wrestling, baseball, soccer, basketball, football, and cross country were a few that he participated in.

Tony attended school in Newcastle, Wyoming until the 9th grade when he went to Aberdeen, South Dakota to go to the School for the Blind, adding swimming and speech to his list of activities. He later moved to California and received degrees in Communications and Behavioral Sciences and was working on Computer Science. He enjoyed writing mostly poetry and had some published.

After residing in California, Tony returned to Newcastle where he lived for the last 3 years of his life.

One of Tony’s favorite things to do was listening to his music and playing video games with his brother, cousins, and others.

Tony only had 34 years to share with us and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Tony was born legally blind but didn’t let that stop him from trying new adventures. Tony recently got to share these memories with some of his cousins, aunts, and uncle.

Tony is survived by his parents, brother Joe, uncles Dennis Bartsch and Ernie Shucraft, aunts Donna Gilkison, Andrea Thorson, Sonja Fletcher, and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Andrew and Irene Bartsch, and Claude and Marianne Shucraft, uncle Michael Bartsch, and aunts Rose Shucraft and Elizabeth Budziszewski, and his cousin and best friend Jeff Gilkison.
