Ann Hampton

Ann Gary Hampton, age 88 of Royal Oak, died June 21, 2008 in Abingdon, VA. She was born December 20, 1919 in Frankfort, KY. Mrs. Hampton lived in South Oakland County over 64 years. She retired August 1, 1978 from A&P store at 12 Mile & Stephenson Hwy. after many years as a cashier. Mrs. Hampton was a member of the VFW Post Royal Oak Auxiliary and was past president of the Troy Auxiliary. She also was a member of the Royal Oak Fraternal Order of Eagles. Mrs. Hampton enjoyed shuffleboard, playing pool, baking pies and going to garage sales. Survivors include her children, LaVern Betty Gary of Conroe, TX, Donald MaryAnn Gary of Royal Oak, Thomas Cathryn Gary of Abingdon, VA and Lawrence Rachelle Gary of Redmond, WA; eight grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lyle F. Gary and Floyd Hampton; siblings, Miranda Svacha and Elmer Hilligoss.
