Alberta Dineen

July 28, 1922 — June 5, 2011

Alberta "Abbey" Dineen, age 88, of Royal Oak, MI passed away on June 5, 2011 at the hospice unit of William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. She was one of six children born to Zygmont and Ursula Puisys of Niagara Falls, New York. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, sisters Amelia Frank Feldmeyer and Aniela Puisys, brothers John Angela Puisys and Anthony Helen Puisys, all of Niagara Falls, James Puisys of Boston, and daughter Elizabeth of Royal Oak. Abbey was born July 28, 1922 in Niagara Falls. She graduated from Trott Vocational High School in 1940 and married Charles J. Dineen on September 11, 1948 at St. George's Church in Niagara Falls. After moving to Royal Oak in 1964, she enjoyed a short career as a medical transcriptionist; however, her primary interests were always with her children Mary Tobin of Royal Oak, Charles Stacie Dineen of Lawton, MI, Nora Gary McMullen of Williamston, MI, Elizabeth deceased, and grandchildren Meghan Tobin of Royal Oak, Emily Tobin of Royal Oak, Corey McMullen of Austin, TX, and Maura Dineen of Lawton. Abbey was an accomplished artist and prolific china painter and was a 20-year member of the Roseville Michigan China Painters Guild. She was an avid gardener who loved flowers, which were the primary subject of her china artwork. The visitation will be Tuesday 4-8 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. Scripture Service at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. Eleven Mile Road 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Mrs. Dineen will lie in state Wednesday 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass 11 a.m. at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in Berkley, MI. The burial will take place at Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to St. Anne's Mead, 16106 West 12 Mile Rd., Southfield, MI, 48076.
